About the Poet

Katryn Broadoak is a poet, mother, and breast cancer survivor whose life has carried her across five countries and countless inner landscapes. She has lived in five countries and speaks English and French — and a little Spanish if you’re patient. A breast cancer survivor, a mother, and a lifelong seeker, she writes from the space between faith and freedom. Once steeped in organised religion, her path has evolved into something more eclectic and earth-centered, rooted in reverence for what’s real and unseen alike (with a bit of a penchant for casual blasphemy from time to time). Her poetry is an offering for anyone who’s ever felt lost — a lantern to light the way toward the other side of something hard, something holy, or both.

Ports and Portals

Pre-order now, available January 6th, 2026

In Ports and Portals, the reader is invited into a world where grief and grace coexist as the poet guides them through an inner emotional landscape, creating a narrative grounded in self-discovery, self-acceptance, self-love, and love for something Holy.

Written amid the uncertainty of a breast cancer diagnosis and the quiet courage of recovery and survivorship, Ports and Portals offers an intimate glimpse of one woman's path through illness, healing, and rediscovery. These poems explore how we rebuild faith—in ourselves, in love, and in something greater—and remind us that one need not have faced serious illness to find resonance in the theme of growth and renewal in the face of adversity.

Though born from one woman's experience, this collection speaks to anyone who has faced profound uncertainty and allowed it to transform them. With honesty, humour, and a touch of irreverence, these poems explore the universal themes of motherhood, love, spiritual tension, and the reconstruction of faith. What emerges is both confession and revelation: a testament to endurance, awakening, and the sacred work of learning to love oneself anew.
